Bombinhas is a peninsula surrounded by the sea, adjacent to Porto Belo, featuring 39 beaches cataloged by the municipal Department of Tourism, ranging from calm bays to open ocean waters and secluded beaches accessible only by trail or boat. The municipality was established in 1992 and is the smallest of the three cities in this guide: 35.1 km², according to IBGE.
The 2022 Census recorded 25,058 residents, with an IBGE population estimate of 28,738 for 2025. Between 2010 and 2022, the population grew at a rate of 4.79% per year, the highest pace among Bombinhas, Porto Belo, and Itapema, compared to 1.66% per year in the state of Santa Catarina. Tourism, artisanal fishing, and mariculture, the farming of mussels and oysters, are the key economic activities highlighted by the local government.

In the summer, the city expands dramatically. The Department of Tourism estimates that the municipality receives around 1.5 million seasonal visitors between December and March. The 2022 Census illustrates this seasonal footprint: 10,971 occasional-use dwellings, representing 45.1% of all residential units in the municipality, the highest proportion among the three cities and more than four times the Santa Catarina state average (10.3%). Only 37.3% of the homes were occupied by permanent residents.
During the high season, Bombinhas charges an Environmental Preservation Fee (TPA) on vehicles entering the city. Specific rates and active dates for each season are published on the official TPA website (tpabombinhas.com.br) and should be verified there.
Bombinhas does not have an INMET weather station with historical climate normals. Based on the 1991, 2020 climate averages for Florianópolis, the nearest official reference point, the average high temperature is 29.4 °C in January, which is also the wettest month (241 mm).
In the winter, the city turns quiet and tranquil. According to the Department of Tourism, from May to July, the beaches stay active for another reason: traditional mullet fishing, where local families haul nets right off the shore. In Florianópolis, July averages a high of 21.1 °C and a low of 12.9 °C, while June is the month with the lowest rainfall (86 mm).

The longest beach stretches are:
| Beach | Length |
|---|---|
| Canto Grande Mar de Fora | 3,831 m |
| Bombas | 2,186 m |
| Canto Grande Mar de Dentro | 2,181 m |
| Morrinhos | 1,390 m |
| Bombinhas | 1,227 m |
| Zimbros | 1,101 m |
| Quatro Ilhas | 1,017 m |
For the 2025/2026 season, five beaches earned the international Blue Flag certification: Conceição, Mariscal, Prainha de Mariscal, Quatro Ilhas, and Tainha. The city also hosts three municipal natural parks (Galheta, Morro do Macaco, and Costeira de Zimbros) and, per the Department of Tourism, includes a federal conservation area, the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve. Scuba diving is one of the top activities promoted by the local tourism board.
If you plan to live here, it is worth knowing the local beach regulations: domestic pets are prohibited on the sand (Complementary Law 75/2008 and the Municipal Code), as are loudspeakers or sound systems that disturb the peace (LC 309/2019).
Among the neighborhoods, Bombas is the first area you encounter upon arrival, featuring a lit beachfront boardwalk of roughly 2 km and concentrated commercial activity. It is the neighborhood with the most pre-construction launches in our catalog. Next come Canto Grande, Mariscal, and Centro. Zimbros and Quatro Ilhas have fewer new developments. An official local detail: streets in each neighborhood of Bombinhas are named after specific animal groups, plants, or natural elements.
According to reports from the Santa Catarina State Department of Public Safety (SSP-SC), Bombinhas registered:
| Year | Homicide victims |
|---|---|
| 2023 | 1 |
| 2024 | 1 |
| 2025 | 2 |
| 2026 (January to July) | 0 |
With 2 victims in 2025 and an estimated population of 28,738 residents, the rate was 7.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants (our calculation). The state average across Santa Catarina was 5.2. With such low absolute numbers, a single incident significantly shifts the rate, and seasonal visitors are not counted in the baseline population.
Regarding traffic safety, 6 Bombinhas residents died in transport accidents in 2024, according to SIM/DATASUS: 21.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants, slightly above the state average of 19.1 (our calculation).
Development. Bombinhas has an HDI-M of 0.781 (high range), above the state average of 0.774, based on 2010 data, the latest municipal figures from the Human Development Atlas. Education (0.732) ranks higher than in neighboring Porto Belo and Itapema.
Healthcare. The CNES database registers UPA Bombinhas, located at Avenida Falcão, 755, in Bombas, offering 24-hour emergency care through Brazil's public healthcare system (SUS). There is no general hospital inside the municipality. The nearest one is Hospital Santo Antônio in Itapema. In the broader region, public care is also provided by Hospital Regional Ruth Cardoso in Balneário Camboriú and Hospital e Maternidade Marieta Konder Bornhausen in Itajaí.
Schools. In the 2025 Ideb index from INEP, public schools in Bombinhas scored 6.1 in early elementary, 4.9 in late elementary, and 4.5 in high school, the latter outperforming Itapema (4.0). The two state schools, EEB Prefeito Leopoldo José Guerreiro and EEB Maria Rita Flor, achieved 5.0 in late elementary; in high school, they scored 4.3 and 4.7 respectively.
Sanitation. In the 2022 Census, 15.7% of residents lived in homes connected to the public sewage system, rainwater network, or a septic tank linked to the main network. It is advisable to ask the developer how wastewater treatment is managed for a specific building.
Commuting. Based on OpenStreetMap routes starting from the city hall, it is 36 km to downtown Balneário Camboriú (around 42 minutes without traffic), 56 km to Navegantes Airport (66 minutes), and 88 km to Florianópolis Airport (89 minutes). Because Bombinhas shares its land border exclusively with Porto Belo, all incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic passes through that single access corridor, an important factor to consider during the summer season.
Bombinhas does not have its own standalone FipeZap index and was not included in the DWV report published by Portas in January 2026, which covered Balneário Camboriú, Itapema, Itajaí, and Porto Belo. The closest price benchmark is Itapema, where the average asking price per square meter was R$15,340 in September 2026, according to FipeZap.
What official metrics reveal is the city's primary focus: nearly half of all homes are for temporary use, and the summer foot traffic estimated by local authorities reaches 1.5 million people. Consequently, the local market centers heavily on second homes and vacation rentals (short-term rentals). The total geographic area is small (35.1 km²) and contains three municipal natural parks.
None of these facts guarantee property appreciation or rental income returns. Demand is concentrated within a few peak months, and the local inventory for vacation rentals is already significant.
